Field of Vision--Review

Being the odd man out is never fun, especially when you’re the new kid at school. Couple that with brains and athletic abilities, and you have Cory Walker in Field of Vision—NBC’s newest Family Movie Night feature. Caught in the foster care system and nearing his final months as a dependent, Cory struggles against the unfairness of being misunderstood, wrongfully judged, and lonely. That is, until the star football player’s little sister, Lucy McFarland, befriends him and begins exchanging books for the fun of reading.

Lucy is also a loner. She prefers to read, draw, and experience things in worlds like King Arthur’s court. When she is given a broken video camera with a mind of its own, her imagination takes on a new dimension. The video footage she sees inside the camera becomes something of a mystery to her as well as a fascination. However, she has trouble convincing her family that she’s not stirring up fantasy within the “broken lens” of the camera.

The beauty of the camera is its inability to lie. This camera provides a key to Cory’s past and his future. I’ll leave that for you to see what is in store on Saturday, June 11. (at 8/7c)

This heartwarming tale of friendship and standing up against bullies is a bit slow moving, but worth the evening with family and friends.  Field of Vision will remind us that doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but it is necessary. Join me as we tune into NBC on Saturday, June 11 at 8/7c, then stop by here and let me know what you think.
