My Girl

2011 At Subway
Mama's are always proud of their babies. Regardless of how good or bad they are, mom's always love and want to protect.

It is no different for this mom. On an article I wrote for Jewels of Encouragement, I mentioned a medical mission's trip I took when my son and daughter were 3 and 4 years old. Some mentioned how they would like to hear more about that trip. That'll come. I first need to scan pictures so that I can post them with my memories.

Another asked how my children fared. Today, fourteen years later, my son and daughter (17 and 18 respectively) are two of the most amazing people I've ever had the honor of living with. They are passionate about the things of God. When I didn't expect it, my son (then 16) began quoting the entire book of Romans to me during casual conversation. He is an evangelist at heart and loves to go street witnessing.

For now, though, I want to brag on my 18-year old. She's gorgeous. (Sorry honey, Mom's privilege). Kelly has gone from a adorable little flower-girl, afraid of and angry with doctors (they were only doing their job) to a most compassionate, creative, humble, and lovely young woman.

A year ago, she graduated from high school and began to further her education at our local community college. Our battles when she was a fourth grader trying to con her mom into writing that essay have birthed in her a young writer hoping to pursue a journalism degree.

She is now creating the bulletin for the Higher Ground Youth Ministry, works as an assistant in our church's Tuesday and Thursday child care/preschool, and has recently been hired at the job she's talked about since turning 16--Starbucks. In July, she will be heading to Garden Valley, TX to train as a leader on a short-term mission's trip to New York where she will be ministering to kids on the streets.

Please pray for her as she prepares for this trip. Visit her blog, All For The Cause, I know she'd love to hear from you.
It's been a pleasure to visit with you.
