No Safe Harbor (Book 1, Edge of Freedom Series)

No Safe Harbor . . . review
 Intrigue . . . Suspense . . . Romance . . .

From ship to shore to boarding house and beyond, Elizabeth Ludwig leads her reader on a journey through customs at New York Harbor and into the city through the eyes of young Cara Hamilton.

Fresh from Ireland, carrying with her the hope of finding the brother she’d thought dead until a few short months prior, Cara tries desperately to keep to Eoghan’s instructions. But a single girl in New York, having no idea how to find her way around may have to trust someone at some point, and when Rourke Walsh offers his services to help her find the boarding house she’d been directed to, she accepts. What she doesn’t expect is his unending interest in her, or her eventual growing affection for him.

In Eoghan’s continued absence, she finds it necessary to confide in someone, especially after attempts have been made on her life. She’s not safe and Rourke might be able to help. But she isn’t aware that she should be wary of his intentions as well. Eoghan wasn’t kidding when he said, “Don’t talk to anyone. Trust no one.”

This historical romantic suspense is full of twists and surprises that kept me riveted to the pages until I’d closed the back cover, satisfied that Ms. Ludwig had taken me on a journey with her characters into dangerous alleys, darkened streets, and the warmth and safety found in the arms of the most unlikely enemy. I’m waiting in eager anticipation of book 2 of this Edge of Freedom series.

I’m certain, if you like romantic suspense, you’ll love this.
