Stronger?

Stronger? Stronger.

Everyone’s looking for an invincible hero. We can see this in the movies. From Power Rangers to The Matrix, Superman to Bourne Identity. You name it, they’re out there. We’ve watched our favorite cartoon characters Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner, Elmer Fudd, the Tasmanian Devil, and so on, be flattened by boulders and come back swinging.

I believe it’s innate in us to want to emulate strength and magnify a hero. There’s nothing wrong with it. The problem enters when we forget, either for ourselves or for those around us who are desperate for a hero, that we have a true hero in Jesus. There’s no comparison. This man, who is God, came to earth to serve, minister, heal, and die. His death was brutal, bloody, and more violent than the most vile film out today.

How do I know? He took the sins of the world upon His shoulders for you and me. This means, all things evil were poured out on Him in that day. He took our punishment—death.

That wasn’t the end though. He showed the universe His muscle when He had lain in the tomb three days, and then sat up, removed His grave clothes and put on the royal raiment given Him by His Father. He conquered the one thing all men fear—death. Jesus is STRONGER than all that would drag us down.

Now THAT’s a hero worth our adoration!

It's been a pleasure to visit with you.

  4. I think the neatest promise is that when we are weaker His strength is made perfect!

  5. I know, Lisa. This and all the other posts are reminders. I think this is why God told the Israelites to set up stones of remembrance, so that they would remember His mighty deeds and fear less when trouble comes.

And believe me, Trouble is camped at my doorstep daily. I can't let him in.
